Rick Martel, whose real name is Richard Vigneault, is a retired Canadian professional wrestler who was born on March 18, 1956. He began his wrestling career in the late 1970s and rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, competing in various promotions such as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the American Wrestling Association (AWA).
Martel is perhaps best known for his time in the WWF, where he held the WWF Tag Team Championship twice and the WWF Intercontinental Championship once. He was also known for his high-flying and technical wrestling abilities, as well as his charismatic persona.
After retiring from professional wrestling in the early 2000s, Martel has made sporadic appearances on the independent wrestling circuit and has also worked as a wrestling trainer and commentator. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019.
